Engaging Story as Medicine is a timeless tradition in healing the heart, mind, and soul in all of the ancient cultures.
Whether through myth, song, ritual, or dreamwork, sacred storytelling allows people to confront what may be felt – but not known or seen. The act of conscious storytelling provides a way to give words, shape, and form to the energies that live through us: the blessed unrest, joy, grief, and for the shadow to reveal. It provides a place for the inner knowing of the soul to express itself, while also providing a place for external guidance to reveal.
The Medicine Stories Creative Intensive takes you on a journey into learning how to engage the almost lost art of engaging story as a healing art. Through an integrated approach of understanding the power of myth, the hidden teachings in fairytales, the power that resides in the mythic imagination, and the transformational capacity in earth based rituals, we will open to the mysteries of remembering how to engage this ancient healing art form and apply it to your every day life.
Your teachers will guide you through a process where you will learn about how story is engaged in narrative medicine in hospitals, the role of myth in our narratives, and how to conjure your own story medicine for wherever you are on your journey.
